Robin Kasahara
Robin Kasahara is new to the SNBC family and RL Stevenson as of fall 2009. Robin is a fully credentialed high school English teacher with a Masters in Education, having worked with at-risk, gang-affiliated youth and students with special needs in education and social work for several years. Coupled with an extensive social work background, Robin was also a behavior counselor and volunteer for children with life threatening illnesses at The Painted Turtle, part of Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang Camps in Los Angeles. She was also an outreach Coordinator for both the Whittier InterCommunity Blind Center and the Ruth B. Shannon Center for the Performing Arts at Whittier College. She earned her B.A.s in Theatre Performance and Communication Arts as well as Dramaturgical Critique from Whittier College and aspires to return to graduate school to earn her doctorate in the near future.
In her down time, Robin reads---A LOT. She also enjoys working out, baseball games, overnight drives to LA, returning to her camp, fundraising and outreach for various charities and autism organizations, and learning ridiculously long medical terms from her boyfriend who is in medical school at UCSF. Currently, Robin is challenging herself by learning Italian if only to prove that three years of learning Latin in high school weren't useless after all...
