The Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center (SNBC) is a community resource that brings diverse people together and facilitates their civic involvement.

The SNBC Community Council is composed of youth, parents, community members, businesses and representatives from neighborhood. Since establishing itself in 1996, SNBC has been extremely successful in engaging young people in its programs. Presently, SNBC is placing special emphasis on strengthening its connections with the broader Sunset community. To this end, the SNBC Community Council is always looking to recruit additional membership.

Safety Network Program

The Safety Network Program assists people living and working in San Francisco to collectively improve safety within their community. A full-time Community Organizer works at the Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center to help build strong partnerships between law enforcement, residents, merchants, and local service providers in the Sunset. These coalitions determine priorities for the neighborhood; conduct outreach and education; set goals and objectives for advocating for change in the neighborhood; and help to implement crime prevention and public safety strategies in the Sunset District.

Sunset Community Convener

The Sunset Community Convener at SNBC is part of the citywide Community Conveners Initiative, which is funded through the Department of Children, Youth and Their Families (DCYF). The Sunset Community Convener at SNBC is devoted to convening, coordinating, and increasing family access to city departments and Sunset District services.
