Typical Day
When students arrive at program, they are greeted by their program leaders and begin their day with snack. Next the students make their way to Homework Time, where they receive help with the homework. After Homework Time, students go outside for recess. Then, students in the groups go to Community Time, where program leaders plan activities that focus on math, literacy, science, art, culture, music and recreation. On Fridays, students participate in clubs, a monthly themed class where students pick from different hobbies like ceramics, knitting, dance, sports, science, engineering, technology, nutrition, or current events. We hope to spark new interests, expose them to new passions, and connect them to their community.
Clubs
At Ulloa ASLP, we provide many opportunities for our students to explore new extra-curricular activities. Students can choose to participate in a variety of enrichment classes like Art, Chess, Hip Hop Dance Team, Martial Arts, Marine Science, Coding, Math, Literacy, Mural Arts, Boys Sports Team, Girls Sports Team, and Community Service Leadership Team. Our Hip Hop Dance Team has been invited to perform at a few community events and our Community Service Leadership Team has been partnering with a local preschool as a big brother and big sister program for the little ones. We are very excited to see students show interest in these classes every week.
Special Events
Twice each school year, Ulloa ASLP holds a Talent Show and Family Potluck showcasing the many talents of our participants and staff. In the fall, we hold a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math) Night where we partner with organizations in our community like the Disney Family Museum, Gulf of the Farallones, and Lowell High School. We also hold two carnivals during the year where students in our Community Service Leadership Team help plan and coordinate the games and activities. We would like to host an Art and Health Night for our families next Spring Semester. Family and Friends are invited to join us for any of these joyous events!
